Regulations in the Department of Biochemistry

 

Regulations of the Biochemistry III and IV course

  1. Biochemistry course includes lectures and seminars.
  2. Attendance at lectures and seminars is obligatory. Two unattended lessons can be compensated within one semester. If a student was absent at three or more lessons during the semester, no credits will be awarded for the given subject and the student will be excluded from the examination.
  3. The knowledge conveyed during the lectures is required for the seminars, colloquia and the examination.
  4. Biochemistry course schedule and announcements about the course will be available on the website e.biochem.sum.edu.pl.

 Seminars:

  1. Colloquia are held according to schedule. Students are entitled to credit tests three times per semester. Retakes dates will be announced on the Department's website. Absence during the test is treated as a fail.
  2. In order to receive the credits for a semester it is necessary to pass each colloquium, achieving over 60% of the total achievable test points.
  3. Using any electronic devices during colloquia and tests are forbidden.

The examination:

  1. In order to take the exam, it is necessary to pass the seminars.
  2. The examination in biochemistry is a single-choice test. In order to pass the examination in biochemistry, the students have to achieve at least 70% of correct answers.

  Exemption

  1. The exemption is possible for a student who passed Biochemistry at the same level in another Medical University. The student should provide Course description and confirmation of credit and final grade.
  2. In each case, the decision is made by the Head of the Department. An exemption may be dependent on the passing of additional examination covering Course description of Biochemistry III and IV in School of Medicine in Katowice.
  3. The exempted student get the grade from an additional examination or obtained on another Medical University.
