Regulations of the Biochemistry V course
- The biochemistry course includes lectures, seminars and laboratory exercises.
- Attendance at lectures, seminars and laboratory exercises is obligatory. Two unattended lessons can be compensated within one semester. If a student was absent at three or more lessons during the semester, no credits will be awarded for the given subject and the student will be excluded from the examination.
- The knowledge conveyed during the lectures is required for the seminars, colloquia and the examination.
- Biochemistry course schedule and announcements about the course will be available on the website e.biochem.sum.edu.pl
Laboratories:
- Written knowledge tests are carried out regularly during the laboratory. To pass a test, a student has to obtain at least 60% of the total achievable points.
- To receive the credits for a semester, it is necessary to pass all tests during the laboratory.
- Retakes of the tests are held at the end of each semester. Students are entitled to credit tests three times per semester. Absence during the test is treated as a fail (0%).
Seminars:
- Colloquia are held according to schedule. Students are entitled to credit tests three times per semester. The last attempt is a comprehensive test. Retake dates will be announced on the Department's website. Absence during the test is treated as a fail.
- To receive the credits for a semester, it is necessary to pass each colloquium.
- Using any electronic devices during colloquia and tests is forbidden.
The examination:
- To take the exam, it is necessary to pass the laboratories and seminars.
- The examination in biochemistry is a single-choice test. To pass the examination in biochemistry, the students have to achieve at least 70% of correct answers.
Exemption
- The exemption is possible for a student who passed Biochemistry at the same level in another Medical University. The student should provide a Course description and confirmation of credit and final grade.
- In each case, the decision is made by the Head of the Department. An exemption may be dependent on the passing of additional examination covering Course description of Biochemistry V in the School of Medicine in Katowice.
- The exempted student gets the grade from an additional examination or obtained from another Medical University.
